M7596 Pattern Review!

Hello, everyone! Happy Wednesday! I want to apologize for my inactivity. I was recently in a car accident and needed some time to recover. I’m doing well though. So with all that being said, I feel like my “coming back to the blog” should be a pattern review!

So I’ve searched far and wide for a kaftan dress pattern. I was so glad McCall’s released this dress pattern. I snagged it during the $2.99 sale on their website. My plan is to make more of these dresses in the future. Since this fabric is so thin, I’m going to use this as a beach cover up. I plan to make more of these dresses with a heavier knit, so it’s not see-through. Take a look at my review and my pictures below!

Pattern: McCall’s 7596

Pattern Description: Very loose-fitting pullover tunic and dresses have shoulder and length variations. B: Contrast upper front.

Pattern Sizing: Y(XSmall-Small-Medium)

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Yes!

Were the instructions easy to follow?: Yes. It was pretty straight forward. On the McCall’s website, it’s listed as average. I only think it’s average because of the shirt design (A).

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?: I loved the kaftan style dress. When I noticed this pattern, I knew I had to have it. The only thing I disliked was the darts on the front piece. I feel like I would’ve done without them.

Fabric Used: Lightweight Jersey Knit from The Loft

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?: Yes! I plan to make this dress in every color if possible.

Conclusion: It’s a pretty fast sew up, I believe it took me about 30-45mins to sew. Instead of using my sewing machine, I decided to serge the entire dress (except the darts and facings). This dress is so lightweight and flowy, I’m obsessed with it.

I will be photographed in this dress soon! Hope you all liked my review! If you’ve created this dress with this pattern, please share with me!

Dyne’esha Takes MFW!! (Memphis Fashion Week!)

Hello everyone! Happy Sunday! Hope you all have recovered enough from the weekend to read my blog post! I’m still trying to recover myself, so I won’t blame you if you still need some more time to get yourself together.

So having an internship definitely comes with perks! Obviously, you have to make sure you’re doing above and beyond, to get special perks. However, based on my work ethic, my boss Alex, bought me a ticket to attend Memphis Fashion Week! When I tell you, I was ecstatic, I was ECSTATIC! And, not to mention I got to sit in VIP! Amazing right??!! We went during the Emerging Designer Project time. Each day of fashion week, they showcased a different designer everyday. However, Saturday’s event was strictly for the Emerging Designers here in the Memphis area. Mark my words, NeeshaValore Designs will be featured in Memphis Fashion Week 2018!

So Alex, had her store Ivory Closet featured in the show. So one of her best models Aviana Monasterio modeled in the show as a “freeze” model. (Meaning, she had to pose in front of the Ivory Closet sign until the next showcase.)

It was a wonderful experience for me! I had so much fun! I don’t remember some of the designers from the show, but I took pictures of my favorite looks.

Like I mentioned in my New Arrivals post about my internship, this is the same lady who owns both The Attic Apparel and Ivory Closet. We were at The Attic Apparel shop in Overton Square to get all the clothes ready to take to the show. Below are some pictures of her shop!

*Please excuse the quality of some of the pictures, my camera does not have the best quality in some areas.*
